Road crashes kill 6
Six people were killed, including a traffic police and two cousins, and six others injured in road accidents in five districts yesterday and Wednesday.
In Chittagong city, Assistant Sub Inspector of Chittagong Metropolitan Police's (CMP) traffic division Mohammed Hanif, 40, was killed when a three-wheeler turned turtle after it collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Double Mooring area yesterday.
Hanif was working under the north zone of CMP Traffic, said Debobroto Kar, traffic inspector of Bakalia area.
In Magura, two cousins were killed when a bus hit their motorcycle from behind on Magura-Jhenidah road in Choto Bridge area yesterday.
The deceased were Razu Ahmed, 25, and Liton Hossain, 40, of Dora-Mothna village under Magura Sadar.
Razu died on the spot and Liton succumbed to his injures at Magura Sadar Hospital. Police recovered their bodies and sent for autopsies. The bus was seized but the driver and the helper fled.
In Mymensingh, Md Sajib, 40, of Horirampur area was killed when a bus ran him over on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Bagan Chairman Bari area of Trishal upazila on Wednesday night.
In Narayanganj, Tofazzal Hosen Mia, 55, of Dhighirpara area was killed and five people were injured when two CNG-run auto-rickshaws collided head-on on Araihajar-Bhulta road at Bajbi in Dutara union yesterday.
In Comilla, bus helper Munnu Mia, 40, of Faridpur was killed and driver of the vehicle was injured when a truck hit it from behind on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Hasanpur area of Daudkandi upazila yesterday.
