RCC mayor resigns to join polls

Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul resigned from his post yesterday for participating in the next month's election to the local government body.

At a press conference held in the city corporation's auditorium, Bulbul said he had sent his resignation letter to the LGRD ministry.

“I will attach the received copy of my resignation letter when I submit my nomination papers to the Election Commission,” he added.

The time for submitting nomination papers by aspirants will end on Thursday. The commission will scrutinise the nomination papers on July 1 and 2.  The election is scheduled for July 30.
