Rajuk starts giving approval for buildings online
The inhabitants of Dhanmondi and Mohammadpur in the capital from now on will be able to apply to Rajuk online seeking approval for construction of buildings.
Rajdhani Unnyan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) yesterday launched the online service for both the land use clearance and construction permits -- two fundamental approvals required for any construction in its zone-5, which also includes Lalbagh, Sutrapur, and Kamrangirchar.
The automation of the approval service would put an end to public sufferings like harassment, allegations of bribery, and unwanted delay, said Rajuk Chairman GM Jainal Abedin Bhuiya.
Through this digital service, people will be able to get a vital job done staying at home, he said, adding that other areas would be phased in every two to three months.
Rajuk has eight zones covering a 1,528 sq km area.
Officials said people could apply for land use clearance, construction permits, and occupancy certificates. The applicants will be informed at every stage of the approval process with text messages on the mobile phone and email, and they will be able to appeal online if denied approval, said officials.
Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah, secretary to the housing and public works ministry, asked Rajuk, “Ease the public service process instead of causing unnecessary hassles.”
He called upon the officials to create a service-oriented environment, in which their next generation will get the same service without hassles.
“We have to create an environment, which would help us get the same service after we go on retirement,” said the secretary.
Housing and Public Works Minister Mosharraf Hossain said many powerful people illegally were using residential buildings for commercial purposes.
“We have instructions from the top level for removal of such establishments," he said, adding, “Most of these violators are newspaper owners.”
