Actress Nawshaba held for spreading rumours on Facebook
Rapid Action Battalion members picked up actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed from Dhaka’s Uttara tonight for allegedly spreading rumours on Facebook over the attack on student protesters demanding safe roads.
Actress Quazi Nawshaba was detained from Uttara tonight for spreading rumours on social media about attack on protesters and later she was taken to Rab-1 office for interrogation, said a text message from the elite force.
At least 20-25 students were injured as alleged activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and police launched an attack on the student protesters at Dhanmondi 3 near Jigatola this afternoon.
The incident took place around 1:00pm when a group of alleged BCL men, some of them wearing helmets and carrying sticks, swooped on the students, parents leaving some of the students injured.
According to Bangla daily Prothom Alo, actress Nawshaba went to Facebook live around 4:00pm and said that the attackers killed two students and gouged out eyes of another in Jigatola.
The protesters started their demonstration demanding safe roads following the death of two college students in a road accident in the capital's Kurmitola area on July 29.
