Prof Dr Nizamuddin Ahmed has been appointed as the vice-chancellor of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) for four years.

Nizamuddin taught architecture at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology for over three decades, said a press release. He did his PhD and postdoctoral research at the University of Sheffield, the UK.

A Commonwealth Scholar and a Fellow, Nizamuddin has authored several books and research publications. He is also a freedom fighter and a trained scout leader, decorated with the highest Silver Tiger award of Bangladesh Scouts. He is the country's only Baden-Powell Fellow of the World Scout Foundation.

Nizamuddin's major design works include Bangladesh University of Professionals, MIST Hostel, Kurmitola Golf Club, Apex Footwear, and Rangamati Water Front resort. His acoustics-cum-interior design works include Chhayanaut, Shilpakala Academy natyashala and art gallery, and Senakunja and Golf Garden auditoriums.
