Workshop on eucalyptus plantation impact held in Ctg

More research should be conducted on eucalyptus plantation to assess its impact on the environment and to decide on its plantation, said speakers at a workshop in Chittagong city's Sholoshahar yesterday.

Dr Shaheen Akther, director of Bangladesh Forest Research Institute, said due to its unique features eucalyptus plants leave positive impacts on some areas while affect some other areas adversely.

Nine papers were presented at the workshop on "Impact of Eucalyptus Plantation in Bangladesh" which also included a segment for recommendations, which will be sent to the environment and forests ministry.
