Two teens die as bus hits bike in Jamalpur
Five were killed and another was injured in three separate road crashes in Mymensingh and Jamalpur during the last two days.
In Jamalpur, two teenagers were killed as a bus hit a motorbike they were riding on Sarishabari-Dighpait road in Bausi Bazar area under Sarishabari upazila on Friday.
Selim Mia (18) and Kabir Hossain (17) died on the spot following the accident around 7pm, said Sarishabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mir Rakibul Haque.
Police recovered the bodies and handed those to the families. Separate cases were lodged.
In Mymensingh, a vegetable vendor and a passenger of a pickup van were killed and its driver was injured as the vehicle hit a truck parked beside Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Bhoraduba Nishida area of Bhaluka upazila early yesterday.
The deceased -- identified as Azizur Rahman (50), the vegetable vendor; and Shafiqul Islam (40), the passenger -- hailed from Jungledia area in Sherpur, said police.
Quoting locals, Bhoraduba Highway Police Station OC Md Mashiur Rahman said the Gazipur-bound pickup hit the truck from behind around 1am, killing the two on the spot.
The injured -- Romzan Ali (26) -- was taken to Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex from where he was referred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, said the OC.
Police seized both the vehicles.
In another accident, a representative of a pharmaceuticals company, was killed after his motorbike collided head-on with another vehicle at Uttar Khoyrakuri in Haluaghat upazila of Mymensingh on Friday.
The victim -- Enamul Hasan Shakil (28) -- hailed from Joypurhat, police said.
Shakil succumbed to his injuries at MMCH around 6:30pm hours after he was admitted there, said Mahmudul Hasan, OC of Haluaghat Police Station.
