Man arrested for spreading rumours

Police arrested a man from Fatikchhari upazila of Chattogram on charges of spreading rumours about child abduction on social media.

The arrestee was identified as Md Alamgir, 34, from Lelang union of the upazila.

He was arrested near his house on Wednesday night, said police. After the arrest, police  held a press conference in the district.           

Alamgir spread rumours by uploading a video, said Chattogram District Police Additional Superintendent AKM Emran Bhuiyan, during the press conference.

In the video, children were asked to not go to school as they will be kidnapped, said Emran, adding that a case was filed in this connection.
