Justice Nazmun Ara named DG of JATI

Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, former judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, has been appointed as director general (DG) of Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) for next two years.

The government made the appointment under section 11(2) of Judicial Administration Training Institute Act, 1995.

Md Golam Sarwar, secretary to the law and justice division of law ministry, issued a gazette notification to this effect yesterday.

According to the notification, Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana will receive the salary, allowance and other facilities equivalent to those of a sitting judge of the Appellate Division during her service as director general of JATI.

Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, who retired as judge of the Appellate Division on July 7, 2017, was the first female judge of the lower court, the High Court Division and the Appellate Division.

Justice Nazmun obtained BSc and LLB degrees, and enrolled as an advocate in the Mymensingh District Court in July 1972.
