JU student dies of dengue

A third-year student of Jahangirnagar University (JU) died from dengue fever early today at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Deceased, Ranjit Das Chauhan, a student of Government and Politics department and resident of Shaheed Rafiq Jabbar Hall, died around 1:40am, reports our JU correspondent.

Ranjit, hailing from Cumilla, was the general secretary of JU Cine Society, a cultural organisation.

The deceased had been suffering from fever since November 14, said Saiful Islam Parash, one of Ranjit's friends.

He was admitted to Cumilla Tower Hospital yesterday morning where doctors diagnosed him with dengue fever, Parash added.

Soon after he was referred to DMCH as his physical condition was deteriorating rapidly.

He was admitted to DMCH around 1am and doctors declared him dead around 1:40am, Parash also said.
