Investigation into ‘Golden Monir’: Rab sends letters to CID, BRTA and NBR
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) today sent three separate letters to CID, BRTA and NBR in connection with Monir Hossain, better known as "Golden Monir"
Lt Col Ashique Billah, legal and media wing director of Rab, confirmed the development to The Daily Star tonight.
A letter was sent to the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) from Rab to investigate the Monir's cars while another letter sent to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to inspect whether Monir was involved in money laundering, he said.
Besides, another letter was sent to the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to investigate whether Monir evaded any tax, added Lt Col Ashique Billah.
Meanwhile, the investigations of three cases against Monir were transferred to the Detective Branch (DB) of Police today, Parvez Islam, officer-in-charge of Badda Police Station, told The Daily Star.
Rab filed the three cases-- under the Special Powers Act, Narcotics Control Act and Arms Act --with Badda Police Station on November 22. Monir was placed on 18 days' remand by a Dhaka court in the cases in the same day.
