Grameen Bank chairman Mozammel Haque dies
Chairman of Grameen Bank, Khandaker Mozammel Haque passed away at Square Hospital early yesterday. He was 74.
He was born in 1944 at Kesharparh village under Senbagh upazila of Noakhali district, according to a statement of the bank.
He was appointed chairman of the bank in 2011, and served it till his last day.
Haque left behind his wife, a daughter and a son.
Abul Hossain, general manager of Grameen Bank, said Haque was suffering from kidney and old-age complications.
His first Namaz-e-Janaza was held at Dhanmondi Taqwa Mosque after Zuhr prayers and second janaza on the premises of Grameen Bank after Asr prayers.
Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus, founder of the bank, took part in the second janaza.
Haque will be buried at his family graveyard in Kesharparh village after Juma prayers today.
