Expo on fire safety begins in capital Feb 13
A three-day long international expo on fire safety and security will be held in the capital’s Bangabandhu International Conference Centre from Thursday.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi is expected to inaugurate the programme. The expo will be organised by Electronics Safety and Security Association of Bangladesh (ESSAB).
Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence Director General Brig Gen Sazzad Hussain, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industries President Sheikh Fazle Fahim and Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association President Rubana Huq will be present as chief guests.
At a press conference in the capital’s Jatiya Press Club yesterday, Motahar Hoshan Khan, president of ESSAB, read out the event schedule.
Fire safety equipments of various brands from 25 countries including USA, UK, Germany, Italy, Taiwan, Turkey, UAE, Portugal, Spain and Poland will be displayed in 75 stalls at the expo.
Modern and latest technologies of fire protection, fire detection, CCTV and video surveillance, building management, access control, public address system, rescue and disaster management will be displayed there.
Apart from that, four special seminars will be held on different fire safety and budget issues, its challenges and way forward.
A fire drill will be held on the first day of the expo.
For the first time in ESSAB’s journey, nine organisations in three categories -- commercial, industrial and residential -- will be awarded for fire safety excellence. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan will be present at the award ceremony.
