DU considering holding final exams online
The deans' committee of Dhaka University yesterday recommended holding final examinations of all academic years via online.
The committee recommended the examinations start from July 1, given that the Covid-19 situation in Bangladesh does not improve by June, confirmed pro vice-chancellor Prof ASM Maksud Kamal.
The recommendation came from a virtual meeting comprising of members of the committee, including deans of all faculties and the pro-VCs. DU VC Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman chaired the afternoon session.
"The deans of faculties concerned have been asked to prepare a strategy paper within two weeks on how the online tests will be conducted," pro-VC Maksud Kamal told The Daily Star.
Speaking to this correspondent, VC Prof M Akhruzzaman said, "As midterm exams are already being conducted online, faculty members have recommended we also take the bigger exams online. This will be finalised through re-discussion at the university academic council meeting."
According to sources, the meeting of the academic council is scheduled to be held today.
