Cops raid house of N'ganj-4 candidate
Police yesterday raided the residence of former BNP lawmaker Muhammad Giasuddin, who also an independent candidate to contest in the December 30 national election from Narayanganj-4 constituency.
Law enforcers launched the raid at around 4:00pm at his Shiddhirganj residence, but could not arrest him as he was not at home.
Giasuddin, also a member of district unit BNP, alleged the raid was carried out to harass him, while police said arrest warrant against him have been issued in several cases.
Guasuddin was deprived of his party's nomination, before he decided to file for independent candidacy. In this constituency, Shamim Osman will contest from Awami League, while BNP has two candidates -- Sha Alam and Mamum Mahmud, vice president and general secretary respectively of the district unit of BNP.
