Coexistence a must for peaceful polls
US-based Democracy International (DI) yesterday organised a conference for the young politicians of Bangladesh, urging them to ensure a non-violent coexistence for a peaceful election.
A total of 167 young leaders from political parties, including Awami League, BNP and Jatiya Party, took part in the event held at a hotel in Dhaka, said a press release.
Speaking at the programme, DI Chief of Party Katie Croake said, “I'm inspired by the positive impact these young leaders are making by working across party lines to improve their communities.''
Delwar Hossain, forest and environment affairs secretary of AL; Azizul Bari Helal, information affairs secretary of BNP; and Fakhrul Ahsan Shahjada, organising secretary of JP, also spoke at the event.
DI organised the conference as part of its “Shantite Bijoy or Win with Peace” campaign, funded by USAID and UK aid.
