Chairman of Rajshahi edu board stand released

The chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Rajshahi has been stand released yesterday reportedly in the face of movement of teachers.

Prof M Abul Hayat, chairman of the board, has been asked in the stand release order to join the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education in Dhaka within August 25 (yesterday) as officer on special duty (OSD).

The order, signed by the education ministry's senior assistant secretary on Monday, was uploaded on the ministry's website yes terday. The order also said Prof Hayat would be considered released even if he does not officially accept the order.

Prof Hayat said he was enjoying leave in the capital and was yet to take his release from the board as ordered.

On August 20, Hayat was made OSD. He took a leave and came to Dhaka afterwards. He had joined the board on February 16 and faced the teachers' movement within a month.

Local chapter of National Teachers-Staff Front brought allegations of corruption and arbitrariness against Prof Hayat and demonstrated demanding his removal.
