Burnt mother also loses fight with burn injuries

A woman, who lost her husband and two sons in a gas stove fire at their Uttara house, succumbed to her injuries at a hospital in Dhaka this afternoon.

Sumaiya Khanam died around 3:15pm at the intensive care unit of Mohammadpur City Hospital a few hours after she was given life support.

The devastating fire incident took place on February 26 at their Uttara-5 house.

Her two sons -- one-year-old Zayan Bin Newaz, and 14-year-old Sharlin Bin Newaz -- died of the burn injuries on the same day.

Their father Mohammad Shahnawaz, 50, a maintenance engineer of American embassy, died at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital a day after the incident took place.
