BNNRC projects win UN WSIS award

Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) has been awarded UN World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2019 for its two projects to create community awareness on climate change and right to information.

The projects are Climate Justice and Resilience through Community Radio at Coastal Areas of the Bay of Bengal and Creating Awareness on Right to Information through Community Radio, according to a press release.

Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, chairperson of Board of Trustees of BNNRC and executive director of COAST Trust, received the award from Houlin Zhao, secretary-general of UN International Telecommunication Union, at a ceremony in Geneva on April 9.

The award recognises remarkable efforts of the entities that focus on accelerating socio-economic progress.
