AG not working for state: SCBA president
Outgoing president of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Advocate Zainul Abedin yesterday said Attorney General Mahbubey Alam is working for the government, and not for the state.
Zainul, a vice-chairman of BNP, said every time the High Court granted bail to Khaleda Zia in a case, the attorney general's office filed a petition with the apex court seeking stay on the HC order.
He was addressing a press conference at the SCBA auditorium.
Zainul demanded immediate release of his client Khaleda Zia and said the government is pushing her towards death day by day.
The outgoing SCBA executive committee will hand over responsibilities to the new committee led by Advocate AM Aminudin tomorrow. Elections to SCBA's executive committee was held on March 13-14.
