7th death anniversary of Poet Abul Hussain
Today is the seventh death anniversary of poet Abul Hussain, a pioneer of modernism in Bengali poetry, said a press release.
He had authored 25 books during his lifetime.
Abul Hussain was born in 1922 in the southern district of Khulna. He studied economics at Kolkata Presidency College and Kolkata University.
He worked in national and international organisations at home and abroad as a civil servant for more than three decades. Alongside his service to the people, he continued his journey as a writer, excelling both in poetry and prose.
His first book of poem was Naba-Basanta. Others are Birash Sanglap (1969), Duswapna Theke Duswapne (1985), Haoa Tomar Kee Dussahos (1982), Ekhono Somoy Ache (1997), Aar Kisher Opekkha (2000), Kaler Khatae (2008) and Selected Poems of Abul Hussain (1986).
He won many literature awards both at home and abroad. His awards include Ekushey Padak, Bangla Academy Award, Padabali Award and Nasiruddin Gold Medal.
