7 travel agencies shut down in Sunamganj
The district administration on Tuesday night shut down seven travel agencies in Sunamganj municipality, for forging government documents and taking excessive amount of money as passport fee from customers.
The agencies are: SAS Enterprise, Rahid Travels, Haque Air Service, Al-Rashid International, Three Star Air Service, Al Sayam Enterprise and Passport Gallery.
Harun-ur-Rashid, additional district magistrate of Sunamganj, said, “Deputy Commissioner Abdul Ahad inspected Sunamganj Passport Office on Tuesday and found irregularities in the process of obtaining passport. Later, he conducted a drive at Al Mamun Market and sealed off these agencies.”
“The agencies were forging government officials’ seal to attest documents and were also charging Tk five to six thousand more than government fees,” he said.
Earlier on April 4, two Rohingyas were detained from Sunamganj Passport Office along with four agents who were helping them get passports using forged documents. Since then, the district administration is monitoring the process.
