50 female domestic workers return home
Fifty Bangladeshi female domestic workers returned from Saudi Arabia on Sunday night following alleged abuse by their employers.
“They came from Bangladesh embassy's shelter in Riyadh. Their common complaint was: either they were not paid or were beaten by the employers,” said Tanvir Hossain, assistant director of the Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) stationed at the Probashi Kallyan Desk of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Sources at the airport said the number of such workers who returned from Saudi Arabia this year would be nearly 3,000.
