4 dead in Hefajat, police clash in Ctg: Bodies will be handed over to families
After six consecutive meetings, leaders of Hefajat-e-Islam Bangladesh today decided to hand over the four dead bodies of those who died in clash with police yesterday, to the respective family members.
The decision was taken at the sixth meeting this afternoon after the previous meetings failed to come up with any decision.
The meeting was held at Hathazari Police Station where police, local MP and top brass Hefajat leaders took part, reports our Chattogram correspondent quoting Nasir Uddin Monir, joint secretary of Hefajat-e-Islam Bangladesh.
Hefajat leaders could not come to a decision since yesterday night on whether the bodies will be taken to Hathazari Madrasa or be handed over to family members, said sources.
The bodies will be taken to the residences of the four families under police protection, the Hefajat leader said, adding that the hand over process will be done any time by tonight.
On behalf of Hefajat Ameer Allama Junayed Babunagari, Nasir said the dawn-to-dusk hartal enforced by his organisation tomorrow across the country protesting the death of four students will be observed peacefully.
Meanwhile, they brought out a protest rally in Chattogram city this afternoon in favour of the hartal.
