20 sued over Sramik League's Faruk murder
Five men and 15 other unknown people were sued over the murder of Gazipur Sramik League leader Faruk Hossain on Thursday night.
The victim's father, Hafizul Islam, filed the murder case with Sreepur Police Station.
The accused are Sumon Miah, 30; Sohel Rana, 24; Saddam, 25; another Sohel Rana, 24; and Babul Miah, 40, said police.
Faruk's uncle Rakibul Hassan, general secretary of Sreepur Chhatra League, told The Daily Star that all the accused are jhut (fabric scraps) traders and rivals of his nephew. Besides, Sumon was a Sramik League leader of the Sreepur upazila unit, Rakibul said.
Contacted, Officer-in-Charge of Sreepur Police Station Jabedul Islam said 20 people were accused in the case. “No one was arrested so far. We are looking for them.”
Faruk, a worker at a cigarette depot and organising secretary of Sreepur municipality Sramik League, was allegedly killed by his rivals over jhut trading on Thursday morning. His arms were found severed from below the elbows.
The 26-year-old lived in Koroitala area of Sreepur.
