1 killed in Shonir Akhra explosion

A man was killed and two were injured after a portion of a wall collapsed on them following an explosion at a three-story building in Shonir Akhra area of Dhaka today.

The deceased was identified as Forid Ahmed, 55, said Inspector Bacchu Miah, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police outpost.

The reason behind the explosion which occurred around 9:00am could not ascertained yet.

The injured were rushed to the DMCH, the police official said.

Officials at Fire Service and Civil Defence said they are still not sure what caused the explosion but suspect that it could be either a gas cylinder blast or an explosion caused by gas line leak.
