Missing boy's body recovered from Dhaka ditch

Rescue divers of Fire Service and Civil Defence recovered the body of a six-year-old boy who went missing after falling into a ditch in Adabar area of Dhaka this evening.

Victim Jisan, 6, is son of Abul Hasem alias Hasu Mia. Hashem is a resident of Nobodoy Housing in the area, according to locals.

The rescuers recovered the body around 10:15pm. 

A group of children was playing cricket in an open space of Nobodoy Housing around 6:00pm, Sabbir Ahmed, an inspector of Fire Service and Civil Defence, told The Daily Star.

At one stage, their cricket ball fell into the ditch and the victim jumped into the water-body to take the ball, but failed to return, he added.

Fire fighters rushed to the spot to rescue the boy after getting a phone call on national emergency helpline number 999.
