Man murdered in Barisal house
A fish trader was found murdered with his hands, legs and neck being tied up with a rope on a chair in his Barisal city residence on Tuesday evening.
Khalid Muhammad Tipu, 40, who was strangled as his mouth and nose were taped, was declared dead at Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, said police.
Sub-inspector Satya Ranjan of Kotwali Police Station said Tipu and his younger brother Md Mansur, who is also involved in the business with Tipu, were living together in their rented flat on the city's Katpatty Road for seven to eight months.
Mansur told journalists at the hospital that on that day Tipu returned home from his business office for launch.
His mobile phone was found switched off when he was called from his office in Kotwali area and native residence in Chittagong in the evening, he said.
Mansur returned home from the office in the evening, found the door closed from the outside, entered the room and found the body sitting on the chair, he said.
Tipu was beaten by some unknown men on the roof of the four-storey building and then taken to his room, the police official quoted a neighbouring child as saying.
Two cellphones and Tk 8,000 went missing from the victim's house, said the SI, adding that they started investigation.
The body was taken to SBMCH morgue for autopsy.
