Indian consulate in Sylhet in 2 months
The High Commission of India in Bangladesh will set up an office in Sylhet within the next two months, High Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla announced yesterday.
"The office will be set up here so that people from Sylhet can easily get Indian visa," the high commissioner said while speaking as the chief guest at a programme at the International Krishnavinamakarta Sangha (ISKCON) Temple in Sylhet.
The high commissioner said in ISKCON Savar, India is funding the construction of an old home and orphanage at a cost of Tk 5.54 crore while in ISKCON Sylhet, construction of a five-storey student hostel is being funded with Tk 7.4 crore.
ISKCON Temple Principal Gaurango Brahmachari, General Secretary of ISKCON's central committee Charu Chandra Das Brahmachari and secretary of the Indian High Commission Shishir Kutari were also present.
