Govt appoints 34 SC lawyers as DAGs

The government yesterday appointed 34 Supreme Court lawyers as deputy attorneys general (DAGs) for dealing with the cases on behalf of the state, increasing the number of DAGs to 80.

The appointment was made through promoting 13 assistant attorney generals and including 21 lawyers practicing at the SC. 

Contacted, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam told The Daily Star that performance of the new DAGs will be assessed after examining how sincerely they work for the state.

There are now one attorney general, two additional attorneys general, 80 deputy attorneys general and 108 assistant attorneys general for dealing with the cases on behalf of the state.
