Girl drowns in capital, student in C'nawabganj
A speech impaired girl drowned in an alley which was clogged with rainwater in the capital's Kanthal Bagan yesterday.
Meem Akter, 7, daughter of Ismail Hossain, had been suffering from epilepsy for a long time.
Her mother Shilpi Akter said her daughter went out around 6:00am while they were sleeping. Around 8:30am, they found her in the waist-deep water and took her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
Locals alleged that the roads in Kanthal Bagan area get submerged even if it rains for a while because of the poor drainage system in the area.
Meanwhile in Chapainawabganj town, a college student drowned in a swimming pool at Natun Stadium in Shibtala, reports our Chapainawabganj correspondent.
