Gazipur mayor shown arrested again

Suspended Gazipur city mayor MA Mannan was shown arrested in another violence case yesterday.

Police filed the case accusing six ward councillors, 74 BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists and 25 unnamed persons of torching a covered van on Dhaka-Chittagong bypass road at Gazipur city's Mogorkhal area during blockade on January 13.

With this, Mannan, who has been in custody since February 11, was shown arrested in 17 such cases.

In the last week, he got bail in all the remaining cases, court sources said. Mannan was suspended on August 19 for being accused in criminal cases.
