Khairul Islam, a freedom fighter and former district unit commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Shangsad, was laid to rest with state honour at his family graveyard in Haripur upazila of Thakurgaon yesterday. 

The 65-year-old died on Tuesday after he slipped while boarding a bus on Panchagarh-Dhaka highway.

With serious injuries he was first taken to Panchagarh Sadar Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries on the way to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
