Four 'robbers' held in Savar

The Detective Branch (DB) of police yesterday claimed to have arrested four robbers in connection with a robbery in a businessman's house in Ashulia on February 8.

The arrestees are Pocha, the gang leader, Shohel Rana, Mukut Shikder, and Momin Sharder, said Additional Superintendent of Police (Dhaka district) Saidur Rahman in a press briefing at Dhaka north detective office. Some 12 robbers at gunpoint looted 80 tolas of gold jewellery and Tk 1.5 lakh from the house of Shiddikur Rahman at Nalam in Savar, outside the capital.

Hearing screams, locals chased the robbers and managed to catch one of them who was later beaten to death. The robbers sold some of the jewellery and the detectives recovered 17 tolas and Tk 2.32 lakh from them, said the ASP, adding that they were trying to arrest the others.
