Exhume Happy's body: HC
The High Court yesterday directed the deputy commissioner of Madaripur to exhume the body of Happy Akhtar, 14, who was murdered allegedly after rape this August.
The HC passed the order after hearing a petition filed by Happy's mother Mukta Begum seeking its order on the government to exhume the body.
Petitioner's lawyer SM Masud Hossain Dolon told The Daily Star that Happy and Sumaiya Akhtar, 15, were killed after rape by their stalkers in Madaripur Sadar upazila on August 13.
Sumaiya's father filed a murder case against eight persons for killing his daughter, he said.
On September 13, Mukta filed another case with murder and rape charges, he said, adding that two women-- Lipi Begum and Ajufa Begum --, who conducted the inquest of Happy, told a Madaripur court through affidavit that they found evidence of rape.
Shafiqul Islam, residential medical officer of Madaripur Sadar Hospital, did not mention in the post-mortem report whether Happy was raped or not and so the rape charge was not brought in the case's investigation.
Dolon said if evidence of rape is found, rape charge would be brought against the accused who are out on bail.
