4.5kg gold seized at Dhaka airport

Customs intelligence officials Gold Bars seized

Customs intelligence seized 40 gold bars weighing 4.5 kilogrammes at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka during the wee hours of today.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of customs intelligence conducted a search on Emirates flight EK 584 coming from Dubai soon after it landed at the airport, according to a message sent to media by custom officials.

The officials found the gold bars attached to two seats on the plane, the message reads.

There were no passengers on the seats from where the gold was recovered at that time, it added.

The market price of the seized gold is approximately Tk 2.33 crore.
