Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam handed over 49 cheques for Tk 1.6 crore in total to 49 families of expatriate workers, who died abroad, at a programme in Chittagong city yesterday.

From now on, the government will provide such assistance to the families of the expatriate workers within two months of their deaths, the minister said.
