CU IER students start boycotting classes

Students of the Institute of Education and Research (IER) of Chittagong University (CU) started boycotting classes from yesterday for an indefinite period with their seven-point demands.

To press home their demands, around two hundred students of the institute staged a sit-in programme from 11:00am to 1:30pm in front of the institute teacher's room.

Their demands include setting up new seminar room, computer lab, science lab, common room and debating club; repairing classrooms and toilets; and increasing the number of rooms for teachers.

The agitating students alleged that they had been facing multifarious problems as the administration did not pay heed to their demands despite repeated appeal.

They said their boycott would continue until their demands are met.
