Boat race in Rupsha
In line with the previous years, a traditional boat race was held on the Rupsha river in Khulna amid festivities and enthusiasm yesterday.
Nagar Samajik o Sanskritik Kendra (NSSK), Khulna arranged the event with the patronisation of Grameenphone, attended by over 100,000 people, said a press release.
In the big boat category, Sundarban Tiger from Koyra, Khulna became first while Sonar Tori from Koyra was the champion in the small boat category.
Centring the event, a rally and cultural programme were held.
Nazmul Ahsan, Khulna DC; Nibash Chandra Majhi, metropolitan police commissioner; Sheikh Harun-ur Rashid, district council administrator; Habibur Rahman, additional DIG; Molla Jahangir Hossain, DC (south); Ashraf-Uz-Zaman, chairman, Greater Khulna Unnayan Sangram Committee; Maruf Rashid, NSSK president; Md Maniruzzaman Rahim, general secretary; Sheikh Ashrafuzzaman, chief advisor; Mohammad Mollah Nafiz Imtiaz, Grameenphone Khulna circle head; and AM Sazzad Hossain, Khulna regional head; were present.
