Bangladesh mission at UN honours 17 peace force commanders
The UN permanent mission of Bangladesh in New York accorded a reception to 17 force commanders of all the ongoing peacekeeping missions on Tuesday.
They also attended the annual conference at the UN headquarters titled “Performance: A Command Responsibly” where Bangladeshi Defence Adviser to the permanent mission Brig Gen AKM Akhtaruzzaman delivered a presentation titled “Troop Contributing Country's Perspective”.
Permanent Representative at the Mission of Bangladesh to the UN Dr AK Abdul Momen lauded the leadership of the force commanders for bringing peace to the troubled countries.
At present, 9,380 peacekeepers including 216 women of Bangladesh are performing duties in 10 peace missions. With the peacekeepers, Bangladesh has topped the list of 121 peacekeeper-contributing countries, including India, Pakistan, and the US, said a press release.
