Appoint new ACC chairman, commissioner thru' fair process
Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) yesterday urged the government to appoint a new chairman and a commissioner to the Anti Corruption Commission through a fair and transparent process.
It also asked the authorities concerned to appoint efficient, neutral and experienced persons as the new chairman and commissioner to the national anti-graft body.
In a statement, TIB Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman said the ACC was a specialised entity responsible for preventing corruption and helping the government implement the national integrity strategy.
“It's the government's responsibility to appoint professional experienced, skilled and neutral persons as the new chairman and commissioner to the commission following the due process,” he added.
The TIB chief said if the ACC worked to check corruption staying above any fear, nepotism and political influence, it would be able to fulfill the people's expectations and they would trust the commission.
The tenure of incumbent ACC Chairman M Badiuzzaman and Commissioner M Shahabuddin is going to expire on March 13, 2016.
