Abducted 3 sales reps rescued from CU dorm

Police rescued three sales representatives (SR) of different companies from a dormitory of Chittagong University on Thursday night hours after they were abducted from the campus allegedly by a group of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).

Police and the university authorities could not disclose the identities of the victims.

A police official seeking anonymity said the three were returning after distributing products at grocery shops when some five BCL men led by Joint Secretary Mizanur Rahman Minu of its CU unit and its Assistant Secretary Mizanur Rahman Mizan blindfolded and abducted the three from No-2 gate area.

The group confined them to a dark room at Alol hall and snatched away Tk 20,000, mobile phones and their other belongings, the police official informed.

Police could not arrest anyone. Meanwhile, the three submitted a complainant against Minu and Mizan to the proctor office.

CU Assistant Proctor Liton Mitra said they will take stern action against the accused if found guilty in investigation.

Mizan said he did not know anything about the incident and it was a conspiracy against him.

Minu could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
