7.64 lakh painkillers seized

Rapid Action Battalion seized 7,64,100 painkillers from a pharmaceutical factory in Barisal city early yesterday.

The seized drugs of “Indofenac-50” brand were manufactured by Indo Bangla Pharmaceuticals, said Assistant Superintendent of Police Nizamuddin Haolader of Rab-8.

Bithi Rani Mandal, an inspector of the Directorate General of Drug Administration, who accompanied Rab to conduct the drive, claimed the company produced “Indofenac-50” in the name of “Diclofenac-50”, which was on the list of the items banned by the administration on August 13. The company Managing Director FM Anwarul Huq, however, said they were yet to receive any order on the ban.
