6 die in road crashes
Six people were killed and 11 others injured in road accidents in four districts yesterday.
In Jhenaidah, a speeding bus losing its control abruptly hit a roadside tree in Nagarbathan Bazar area in the district's Sadar upazila, leaving a man dead on the spot and ten others injured.
Deceased Liakot Ali, 45, a betel leaf trader, was from Kanapukuria village in Shailakupa upazila.
The injured were admitted to different hospitals.
In Kurigram, a man named Maidul Islam, 35, died instantly and a child named Babu, 8, was injured as a tractor hit them from behind at Tabakpur in Ulipur upazila.
Deceased Maidul was from the upazila's Battala village.
Police detained the tractor, but its driver managed to flee.
In Patuakhali, a speedy bus rammed into a motorbike carrying three riders at Amkhola in Galachipa upazila, leaving two of them dead on the spot and another critically injured, reports UNB.
The deceased could not be identified immediately.
The injured person later died at Patuakhali Sadar Hospital.
In Chittagong, a mentally impaired woman, aged around 30, died on the spot as a vehicle hit her in Katirhat Moinyapukurpar area in the district's Hathazari upazila.
The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained immediately.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue.
