57 DU law students fined for plagiarism

Fifty seven students of the law department of Dhaka University have been fined Tk 11.4 lakh in total for alleged plagiarism while submitting their research monographs for the 2014 final exam of Masters of Laws course.

Each of them has to pay Tk 20,000 and submit a new monograph, according to the dean's committee.

Prof Taslima Monsoor, dean of the law faculty, said, "We gave minimal punishment though it was a serious offence. We taught referencing and other methods…still they plagiarised.”
