Charges pressed against six Jamaat men
Charges have been pressed against six Jamaat men in the case for assaulting four members of a Hindu family and looting bamboos from their bamboo cluster at Shafirhat village in Patgram upazila in September last year.
The accused are Abul Hossain, Aminur Rahman, Shovon Islam, Akash Mia, Nurnabi Hossain and Samiul Islam of the village.
Nazrul Islam, a sub-inspector of Patgram Police Station and also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the Judicial Magistrate Court yesterday.
According to the case statement, the Jamaat men led by Abul Hossain looted bamboos from a bamboo cluster owned by a Hindu family on September 28 in 2014.
The gang also beat up Pushpa Rani Sen, her two sons Shyamol Chandra Sen and Kamol Chandra Sen, and Shyamol's wife Dipali Rani Sen when they tried to resist them.
Kamol Chandra Sen filed a case with Patgram Police Station, accusing six Jamaat men, sincluding Abul Hossain the same day.
On July 13 the same year, the six attacked the four Hindus, torched their house and grabbed a cropland of the family.
Later, police submitted a charge sheet in this connection on October in 2014 and freed the cropland from the grabbers.
