Charge framing hearing against Fakhrul deferred till June 10
A Dhaka court yesterday deferred till June 10 the hearing of charge framing against BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 45 other leaders and activists of the 18 party-alliance (now 19-party) in an arson case.
The case was filed on April 29, 2012 with Tejgaon Police Station after a bus had been torched before the Prime Minister's Office during a countrywide hartal enforced by the alliance.
Metropolitan Magistrate Harun-or-Rashid passed the order after lawyers of Fakhrul and several others had submitted separate petitions.
During yesterday's hearing, ASM Hannan Shah, Sadeque Hossain Khoka, Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee, Sultan Salauddin Tuku and 18 others were present at the court while Fakhrul and 23 others remained absent.
Meantime, another Dhaka court yesterday deferred till June 15 the hearing on charge framing against former opposition Chief Whip Zainal Abdin Farroque and 147 others in a case filed for torching vehicles before BNP's Nayapaltan headquarters in March, 2013.
