Lotto Bangladesh opens factory in Gazipur, unveils 'Super Lite'

Express Leather Products Limited, the licensed partner of Italy's Lotto brand in Bangladesh, marked a new chapter in its expansion with the cornerstone-laying ceremony of a state-of-the-art factory in Kapasia, Gazipur on May 18.

The new facility will strengthen the company's manufacturing capacity and export potential while generating thousands of local jobs. Equipped with advanced machinery and sustainable infrastructure, the factory includes a training centre to develop skilled manpower and reinforces a focus on women's empowerment and a worker-centric environment.

Founded in 2007, Express Leather Products began as a footwear manufacturer with 35 employees and has since grown into one of the country's leading lifestyle and fashion brands. In 2011, it became the official partner of Lotto, launching Lotto Bangladesh.

Managing Director Kazi Jamil Islam said the investment would support the company's long-term growth, bolster foreign exchange earnings, and enhance its competitiveness in international markets.

Dignitaries at the event included Najit Miwanag, CEO of Commercial Bank of Ceylon; Tarek Refat Ullah Khan, additional managing director of BRAC Bank; Faisal Rahman, additional managing director of Prime Bank; M. Shamsul Arefin, managing director of NCC Bank PLC; Rafiqul Islam, managing director of United Finance PLC; Shah Reazul Hannan, joint convener of Gazipur BNP; and Dr. Chowdhury Mohammad Zaber Sadique, SP of Gazipur District. Senior government officials, banking executives, and business leaders also attended.

The company also unveiled its latest innovation, the "Super Lite," a lightweight, water-resistant footwear designed for everyday use. It will be available nationwide across all Lotto outlets.

Express Leather has pioneered technologies such as AMF Super Comfort, BOOST, EASY FIT, and DEEP DRY Tech, combining Italian design with local insights. With more than 220 outlets, the brand continues to expand its footprint in Bangladesh's lifestyle and sportswear market.
