Cancer awareness workshop ‘Amra Durbar Rukhbo Cancer’ held
Bangladesh Cancer Aid Trust (BANCAT) and BANCAT Durbar had initiated a cancer awareness workshop named "Amra Durbar Rukhbo Cancer". The workshop had been successfully organized at the University of Dhaka in association with Dhaka University Career Club.
The first "Amra Durbar Rukhbo Cancer" workshop was held recently at The Professor Dr Habibullah Conference Hall of The Faculty of Business Studies, Dhaka University which is presented by Bank Asia and supported by Urmi Group. The main objective of the event was to spread the concept of cancer properly among the young students of Bangladesh.
Professor Dr Mohammad Abdul Moyeen, Dean, Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka was present as the chief guest at the workshop. Dr. Kazi Abdullah Arman, Associate Consultant, Medical Oncology, LabAid Cancer Hospital and Super Speciality Centre was present as the special guest. Mr Amitavo Bhattacharyya, Head of Business, Labaid Cancer Hospital & Super Specialty Center was also present there.
Talking about effective ways to eradicate cancer from society Najmus Ahmed Albab, Founder, and Executive Director of Bangladesh Cancer Aid Trust, said, "If we want to prevent cancer, we have to consider the youth as the foundation because they will build the fortress of bricks, sand and cement which will make it difficult for cancer to overcome."
Highlighting the need to create awareness about cancer among the younger generation Mahzabin Ferdous, General Secretary of Bangladesh Cancer Aid Trust, said, "I wish I had attended a workshop like this when I was a student, maybe then I could have handled my situation better when my family members were suffering from cancer. Because this workshop of BANCAT Durbar is designed for young people so that they can help the people of their family and friends to fight cancer. Therefore, everyone should participate in the BANCAT Durbar workshops in coming days. The main goal of BANCAT Durbar is to make all the people of Bangladesh aware of cancer".
The chief guest, Prof. Dr Mohammad Abdul Moyeen mentioned that cancer can be prevented through cancer awareness and also emphasized changing the lifestyle to prevent cancer in his speech.
The special guest, Dr. Kazi Abdullah Arman mentioned that world-class cancer treatment is now available in Bangladesh and encouraged people to get treatment from inside the country. He discussed how to prevent cancer, which cancer can be prevented through vaccines, and which diet and lifestyle can cause cancer. Above all, someone should have a clear idea about how to get treatment in case he is diagnosed with cancer. And he believes only with this knowledge cancer can be conquered.
The workshop was presented by Bank Asia in association with City Group as beverage partner, CThreeSixty as execution partner, Decco as food partner, LabAid Cancer Hospital and Super Specialty Centre as the medical partner and Urmi Group as the support partner.
Officials of BANCAT, LabAid Cancer Hospital and Super Specialty Center, faculty members and students at Dhaka University were present at the workshop. There was also a medical camp setup in the workshop where participants were given the opportunity to get a free health check-up along with cancer awareness tips.
