BNPS organises two-day workshop on localisation of women, peace, security agenda

A two-day national workshop titled, "Advancing Localisation of Women, Peace and Security Agenda in Bangladesh", began today at Hotel Lakeshore Heights in the capital.

Organised by Bangladesh Nari Pragati Sangha (BNPS) with support from the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP), the workshop brought together key stakeholders from across the country, said a BNPS press release today.

The inaugural session was chaired by BNPS Director Shahnaz Sumi and attended by dignitaries including Marcus Davies, political counsellor at the High Commission of Canada in Bangladesh; Jasmin Nario Galas, senior programme director at GNWP; Tania Sharmin, planning, monitoring, and reporting analyst at UN Women Bangladesh; Additional DIG Shahala Parvin, secretary of the Bangladesh Police Women Network; Md Saidur Rahman Khan, director general of the Department of Social Services; Keya Khan, director general of the Department of Women Affairs; and Seema Moslem, joint secretary of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad.

Participants also included journalists, civil society representatives, and steering committee members from four districts.

Around 50 participants from eight upazilas across four districts took part in the workshop, representing local government, administration, law enforcement, civil society, and youth, the release added.
